Review - Secret Garden by Johanna Basford

Now if you had told me a year ago I would be obsessed with beautiful grown up colouring books and the gorgeous pencils and pens that you buy out there, I may not have believed you!

My friend obi-wan was given this book for Christmas and she brought it along one day to show me and it was love at first page turn.

It is a beautiful intricate book jam packed with gorgeous designs and it's ideal for grown ups and the older child.

Beautiful flowers, leaves and other garden designs grace the pages, I almost  left colouring in as it's so pretty by itself!

I have spent many enjoyable hours blending my colours in to the designs, when I have had a horrible day I find sitting colouring the leaves very therapeutic!

You will see from my cover photo that it can be customised by you too!  I have generally used pencils on the inside but on the thicker cover felt pens look fab!

This book is also going to be available as postcards which I am going to buy as they will make excellent framed prints.

I have also discovered that I already own some of Johanna's art in the form of Joss Stirling's novels with their gorgeous covers!

All in all this is a beautiful book and colouring for grown ups is very serious business!

  1. It is such a beautiful book. I just wish they had used heavier paper so you could use felt tips to colour in. The pictures deserve the brightness of felt tips but the paper bleeds through
